Andean Silk™ Natural Suri Alpaca — 6"
Handmade Alpaca Fur
Ethically and sustainable sourced
This palm-sized Suri Alpaca stuffed animal is handcrafted in Peru from genuine Suri alpaca fur, left in its own natural undyed beige, and shaped entirely by a single artisan.
The Feel of Andean Silk™
The beige color isn't something we added. It comes from the fiber's own natural pigment — genuine Suri alpaca fur in its purest, undyed form, hand-shaped by a single artisan into this compact, collector-sized alpaca.
Andean Silk™ describes the long, silky locks that naturally grow in smooth, parallel strands, making Suri fiber unlike any other alpaca fur we work with. Where Huacaya fiber crimps into dense, springy loft, Suri fiber grows straight and smooth, falling in a natural drape with a soft, silky sheen. Suri alpacas make up fewer than 5% of the world's alpaca population, making this one of the rarer fibers in our collection.
Within our Sensory Collection System, Cloud Touch™ is reserved exclusively for teddy bears, Andean Puff™ identifies our Huacaya-fiber animal designs, and Andean Silk™ identifies our Suri-fiber designs like this alpaca.
Every handmade Suri Alpaca includes a signed Certificate of Authenticity from the artisan who made it, one of our 35+ indigenous Andean artisan families in Peru.
This Suri Alpaca is also available in 12" and 16", sharing the same genuine Suri alpaca fur and individual Certificate of Authenticity.

Care & Ownership
Suri fiber's long, silky locks benefit from slightly different care than our Huacaya pieces. Spot clean gently using a small amount of foam from a mild, fragrance-free soap, keeping the piece as dry as possible. Never machine wash or tumble dry. When drying or restoring shape, smooth the locks gently in their natural direction with your fingers or a wide-tooth comb — never brush against the direction of the locks, as this disrupts their natural drape.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this made from real alpaca fur?
Yes. This piece is made from 100% genuine Suri alpaca fur, in its own natural, undyed beige tone.
What's the difference between Suri and Huacaya alpaca fur?
Both are genuine alpaca fiber, but they feel very different. Huacaya fiber crimps into a dense, springy loft. Suri fiber grows in long, straight, silky locks with a natural drape and sheen. Suri represents fewer than 5% of the world's alpaca population.
Is the color natural or dyed?
Natural. No dyes are used — the coloring comes entirely from the fiber's own pigment.
Does this contain lanolin?
No. As a fully natural, undyed piece, it's naturally lanolin-free.
What are the eyes made of?
Glass safety eyes, hand-set and secured with a backing washer.
Why is Suri alpaca considered rare?
Suri alpacas make up fewer than 5% of the world's alpaca population. Unlike Huacaya alpacas, whose fiber grows with natural crimp and loft, Suri fiber grows in long, silky locks. Their relative rarity makes genuine Suri alpaca one of the most distinctive natural fibers used in artisan craftsmanship.
Is this Suri Alpaca available in other sizes or colors?
Yes. This design is also available in 12" and 16", in the same natural coloring. Select Suri designs are also available in hand-dyed colors.
Will my Suri Alpaca look exactly like the photos?
No. Every Suri Alpaca is individually handmade from genuine Suri alpaca fur. Minor variations in fiber tone, the natural direction of the silky locks, and facial expression are part of what makes every piece unique.
Does it come with a Certificate of Authenticity?
Yes. Every piece ships with a signed Certificate of Authenticity from the artisan who made it.
Where does this ship from?
Ships from the United States, with free shipping to the continental US.
