Blushing Andean Silk: The Bicolor Pink Suri Alpaca

Experience a touch of magic with our Bicolor Pink Alpaca. This 12-inch masterpiece is handcrafted from the rarest alpaca fiber on earth: Suri. While standard alpaca plush is fluffy, the Suri breed offers a long-staple, silky texture that feels cool to the touch and drapes beautifully like a waterfall.

The Suri Difference: Luxury You Can Feel

Here is why the Bicolor Pink Suri stands out:

  • Lustrous Pearlescent Sheen: Suri fiber has a unique structure that reflects light, making the hand-dyed pink tones shimmer with a natural brilliance.

  • Waterfall Texture: Unlike "crimped" Huacaya fur, Suri locks are straight and smooth, offering a sophisticated aesthetic perfect for luxury nursery decor.

  • Reinforced Safety: Every alpaca features authentic glass eyes. These are not simply glued; they are permanently secured using a reinforced artisan anchoring system, ensuring they will not come out during play or display.

Ethically Sourced & Hand-Finished

  • Sustainable Byproduct: Our fur is an ethical byproduct of the traditional Andean alpaca wool industry. We upcycle this precious resource to provide fair-trade income for our community of 35 artisans families.

  • One-of-a-Kind Artistry: Because we use natural fibers and small-batch dyeing, the "pink and white" bicolor pattern is unique to every animal. No two alpacas are ever identical.

Q: What is a bicolor alpaca plush? A: A bicolor alpaca plush is a stuffed animal made with two different alpaca fur colors, creating a unique and playful look.

Q: Is the pink color natural? A: The white fur is the natural, undyed pigment of the alpaca. The pink sections are hand-dyed using professional-grade, non-toxic dyes that preserve the hypoallergenic properties and silky texture of the Suri fiber.

Q: Are all alpacas the same? A: No. Because each alpaca plush is handmade, every piece has slight variations in color and texture.

The artisans generally work from the comfort of their home; however, they have access to a communal workshop in the city of Lima. At Inspired Peru, artisans are empowered to transmit their traditional skills to future generations while expanding their business and leadership skills. Artisans have access to skill development programs through Inspired Peru. We are proud to partner with artisans at Inspired Peru.

THE TECHNIQUE

On average, six to eight artisans collaborate on the production of these stuffed animals. It takes about five days to craft each of these adorable, hypoallergenic stuffed animals. The process begins with artisans shaping molds and carefully sewing the body. Each animal’s face is separately constructed, giving each piece a very realistic flair. After carefully shaving the alpaca, the hair is washed and sun-dried for one to two days. Depending on the item, the artisans may dye the alpaca hair using vibrant colors. Dying involves additional hand-wash cycles to reach the desired color. Molds are separately made using flexible cardboard. Artisans carefully hand-glue the washed alpaca hair to the mold. Once dried, the hair is thoroughly hand-combed to reach its staple softness. No animal cruelty is involved in the sourcing of the alpaca hair.
