A Ray of Andean Sunshine

Bring a glow to your home with the rarest fiber on earth. Our Jumbo 16-inch Golden Yellow Suri Alpaca is a breathtaking masterpiece of Peruvian craftsmanship. Made from 100% genuine Suri alpaca—a breed representing only 5% of the world's alpaca population—this large-scale companion is defined by its long, shimmering locks that feel like cool silk against the skin.

Why the Jumbo Yellow Suri is a Masterpiece:

  • Rare "Silk-Lock" Texture: Suri fiber is world-renowned for its natural "sheen" and elegant, straight drape. In this Jumbo size, the visual impact of the flowing silky locks creates a unique "shaggy-chic" luxury aesthetic
  • The Ultimate Sensory Experience: Unlike "fluffy" alpacas, the Suri fiber is remarkably smooth and cool. Its hollow-core fibers make it incredibly lightweight yet substantial in size.
  • 100% Ethical & Cruelty-Free: Sourced from alpacas that have passed naturally in the Andean highlands. Your purchase directly supports a collective of 35 indigenous families in Peru.
  • Hypoallergenic Excellence: Naturally lanolin-free and dust-repellent. It remains a safe, healthy choice for nurseries and sensitive homes.
  • Vibrant & Non-Toxic: We use eco-friendly dyes to achieve this radiant yellow, ensuring the color stays vivid without compromising the natural softness of the fiber.

Care & Maintenance

To maintain the "show-stopping" look of the long Suri locks:

  • Grooming: Use a wide-tooth comb or your fingers to gently "brush through" the locks if they become tousled. This restores the natural drape and luster.

  • Cleaning: Alpaca fiber naturally repels odors. If needed, spot clean with a damp cloth and mild wool-safe soap. Air dry naturally.

Inspired Peru is an artisan cooperative consisting of 35 artisans; the majority are widows and heads of household from indigenous communities in the Peruvian highlands. Ethically sourced, local alpaca wool is used to craft products, such as stuffed animals and accessories, that celebrate the artisans’ ancestral and cultural heritage. The artisans generally work from the comfort of their home; however, they have access to a communal workshop in the city of Lima. At Inspired Peru, artisans are empowered to transmit their traditional skills to future generations while expanding their business and leadership skills. Artisans have access to skill development programs through Inspired Peru. We are proud to partner with artisans at Inspired Peru.

THE TECHNIQUE

On average, six to eight artisans collaborate on the production of these stuffed animals. It takes about five days to craft each of these adorable, hypoallergenic stuffed animals. The process begins with artisans shaping molds and carefully sewing the body. Each animal’s face is separately constructed, giving each piece a very realistic flair. After carefully shaving the alpaca, the hair is washed and sun-dried for one to two days. Depending on the item, the artisans may dye the alpaca hair using vibrant colors. Dying involves additional hand-wash cycles to reach the desired color. Molds are separately made using flexible cardboard. Artisans carefully hand-glue the washed alpaca hair to the mold. Once dried, the hair is thoroughly hand-combed to reach its staple softness. No animal cruelty is involved in the sourcing of the alpaca hair.
