Handmade Alpaca Teddy Bear | Nano Fiber Series

The Nano Heritage Form

The Cloud-Touch Alpaca Bear (6") is a concentrated expression of Andean fiber excellence. As the most intimate scale in the Heritage Series, Object No. 03 is designed as a sensory artifact—a distilled fiber form that captures the signature loft and "Cloud-Touch" texture of baby alpaca in a palm-sized scale. Prized for its refined tactility, the Nano Form is a versatile pocket heirloom designed for personal gifting, bedside styling, or as a sophisticated sensory token.

The Andean Fiber Standard:

  • Concentrated Fiber Loft: Despite its 6-inch scale, Object No. 03 condenses the full loft, warmth, and cloud-soft tactility of baby alpaca into the most intimate form within the Archive Fiber Series. This provides a high-density sensory experience that emphasizes the material’s natural architectural softness.

  • Personal Tactile Experience: Naturally lanolin-free and breathable, the Nano Form highlights the exceptionally soft tactile qualities of untreated baby alpaca fiber. It is the ideal tactile companion for sensitive environments or a refined keepsake for newborns.

  • Raw, Undyed Purity: Presented in its organic, undyed state, this 6-inch form showcases the raw beauty of the Peruvian highlands. By avoiding industrial pigments, we preserve the fiber's natural character and ensure a completely plastic-free, hand-stitched construction.

The Studio Profile:

  • Classification: Sensory Artifact / Pocket Heirloom

  • Dimensions: 6 inches (15 cm) — The Nano Form

  • Material: 100% Signature-Grade Baby Alpaca (Undyed)

  • Finish: Individually hand-brushed for a seamless, velvet-soft surface

  • Ocular Detail: Plastic-free embroidered detailing (Hand-stitched)

The Archive Composition: Together, the three Archive Forms explore baby alpaca fiber across varying scales of tactile presence—from the architectural Object No. 01 Grande Form to the versatile Object No. 02 Petite Form and the intimate Nano. Collected as a complete composition, the series creates a layered study in softness, form, and material continuity.

INSPIRED PERU

Inspired Peru is an artisan cooperative consisting of 35 artisans; the majority are widows and heads of household from indigenous communities in the Peruvian highlands. Ethically sourced, local alpaca wool is used to craft products, such as stuffed animals and accessories, that celebrate the artisans’ ancestral and cultural heritage. The artisans generally work from the comfort of their home; however, they have access to a communal workshop in the city of Lima. At Inspired Peru, artisans are empowered to transmit their traditional skills to future generations while expanding their business and leadership skills. Artisans have access to skill development programs through Inspired Peru. We are proud to partner with artisans at Inspired Peru.

THE TECHNIQUE

On average, six to eight artisans collaborate on the production of these stuffed animals. It takes about five days to craft each of these adorable, hypoallergenic stuffed animals. The process begins with artisans shaping molds and carefully sewing the body. Each animal’s face is separately constructed, giving each piece a very realistic flair. After carefully shaving the alpaca, the hair is washed and sun-dried for one to two days. Depending on the item, the artisans may dye the alpaca hair using vibrant colors. Dying involves additional hand-wash cycles to reach the desired color. Molds are separately made using flexible cardboard. Artisans carefully hand-glue the washed alpaca hair to the mold. Once dried, the hair is thoroughly hand-combed to reach its staple softness. No animal cruelty is involved in the sourcing of the alpaca hair.
